Expert Team & Talent Echelon
The expert team of ICOMOS International Conservation Centre-Xi’an (IICC-X) has built a complete talent echelon, with full-time staff as core backbones and external part-time specialists as a professional think tank. It forms an interdisciplinary, international research cohort fully committed to cultural heritage conservation.
The Centre maintains a well-structured team of full-time researchers and technical specialists, comprising 3 PhD holders and 11 postgraduate masters. In terms of professional academic titles, the team includes 1 senior professor-level researcher, 4 associate senior researchers and 10 intermediate researchers. Its core expertise falls into three major disciplines: archaeology, cultural heritage conservation and heritage site management. The team is fully capable of delivering full-spectrum independent professional work, covering archaeological surveys, heritage condition diagnosis, conservation technology research, heritage master planning, World Heritage nomination dossiers, long-term heritage monitoring, and sustainable development of historic sites.
Leveraging the global expert network of ICOMOS, the Centre continuously pools top academic and industrial resources worldwide to develop a high-calibre part-time think tank. It brings together distinguished scholars and senior practitioners across archaeology, artefact restoration, built heritage, heritage policy, conservation of historic urban and rural landscapes and related sectors. These specialists participate in project review, technical consultancy, research evaluation, academic forums and joint research initiatives. The combination of full-time operational staff and external international experts creates complementary strengths, integrating hands-on field expertise with forward-looking global perspectives. The dual-tier talent system provides robust technical backing for Silk Roads heritage preservation, cross-border academic exchange, and worldwide heritage capacity-building programmes.
